Irving Arts Center

  1. Sister Act

    November 3, 2017 - November 18, 2017 @ Dupree Theater

When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she’s thrown into protective custody in the one place she’d never be spotted — a convent! Her loud, abrasive nature doesn’t mesh well with the rigid, uptight nuns, but that won’t stop her from breathing new life into the church and, in the process, blowing her cover. It’s divine musical comedy, inspired by the smash hit 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg.

  1. Organic Amendments in the Garden

    November 7, 2017, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Valley Ranch Library

Applying organic soil amendments to the garden or landscape can loosen soil, improve water infiltration, and increase long-term nutrient supply. When added to sandy soils, organic soil amendments can also improve water-holding capacity. Soils that benefit the most from organic soil amendments are those lacking in organic matter. These often include urban soils that have been disturbed during construction, landscaping and utility work. Students will learn more about the types and applications of organic amendments in the garden.
