In Irving, more than 60,000 tons of garbage ends up in the city landfill, with each Irving resident throwing away approximately 3.7 pounds per day. Approximately 80 percent of that waste is potentially recyclable. |
Curbside – Residents receiving solid waste services can participate by recycling paper, cardboard, cans, glass bottles and jars, and plastic containers. Irving utilizes the blue recycling bag as the designated collection container for recycling. Single-family homeowners may purchase the bags at Irving City Hall or at any Irving recreation center. Drop-off recycling centers – The city operates two attended drop-off recycling centers. The centers are open 40 hours a week and accept paper, cardboard, cans, glass bottles and jars, and plastic containers.
Electronic recycling – Residents may properly dispose of their electronic recyclables such as CPUs, PCs, laptops, monitors, keyboards, mouse, wiring, cell phones, data storage devices, hubs, modems and docking stations at two of the three drop-off recycling centers.
