Resident Survey Coming Early 2018

The City of Irving will conduct its biennial Resident Survey in early 2018 to provide residents with an opportunity to rate the quality of life and city services in Irving. The survey is an opportunity for residents to tell city leaders what is working well and what needs improvement, as well as communicate service priorities for the next two years. It also serves as a customer satisfaction report card for the city and a resource allocation tool for city officials.

Residents identified several priorities as part of the 2016 Resident Survey, including street maintenance, corridor enhancements, economic development, street lighting and public safety. Since then, the city launched “Road to the Future,” an initiative dedicating $100 million over five years in support of roadway reconstruction and rehabilitation across Irving.

The city’s continued focus on economic development has made Irving a leading international business center in America. As a frontrunner in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for attracting and retaining top corporations, Irving boasts more than 50 Fortune 500 companies with a corporate presence or headquarters in the city. In addition to key developments across the city such as Water Street, Hidden Ridge and the Heritage Crossing District, the city has been focused on the construction of the convention center hotel and the Toyota Music Factory. In the meantime, public safety has been enhanced with the opening of a new fire station along with the necessary personnel, the construction of a fire training facility, the placement of a new ambulance into service and the hiring of additional police officers to address service demands.

This year’s survey will be sent to approximately 10,000 households, selected at random, in order to seek input in seven categories: Quality of Life, Community Characteristics, Public Safety, Quality of City Services, Communication, City Performance and Service Priorities.
