About Towne is a biweekly half-hour arts series that highlights Irving’s excellent local artists and craftsmen, entertainment venues and arts organizations. It also serves the viewing audience by publicizing upcoming concerts, performances, festivals and events.

On this episode of About Towne we’ll check out the African American Read In at South Irving Library. We’ll meet some local teens with star potential at “Irving’s Got Talent,” Irving’s premiere teen talent competition. And…  we’ll discover some little known history at the Irving Black Arts Council’s production of “Take the Bus!” Plus, we’ll get the details on Sean Mitchell and the Big City Music Review, coming to the Irving Arts Center courtesy of the Entertainment Series of Irving.  We’ll get the scoop on TexasFest 2017:  Off to the Races, at Lone Star Park, and we’ll preview “Chocolate and Chic 2017,” benefitting Brighter Tomorrows.

Next time on About Towne we’ll preview the MainStage Irving/Las Colinas production of “Calendar Girls,” running March 17-April 1 in the Dupree Theater. The 3rd annual North Texas Teen Book Festival took over the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas – we’ll have highlights of all the excitement! And…  we’ll learn how Dr. Jaleen Sims helps girls prepare for the future at the 3rd annual “Imagine You” Conference. Plus, we’ll find out what’s in the works for Celebrating Irving 2017, an all-day jam session at the Texas Musicians Museum on April 1, and the details on the DFW Humane Society’s “Wag, Walk & Roll” walkathon on April 8.
